Top 10 African Countries with the Highest Alcohol Consumption

There is no doubt that alcohol is one of the oldest and most culturally significant recreational substances in the world, but consumption levels and types vary depending on the region.

Alcohol consumption is regarded as a pleasure in some cultures, while intoxication is viewed as a sin in others.

A comprehensive report on the global status of alcohol was released by the World Health Organization (WHO) in 2019 to assist countries in combating the harmful use of alcohol.

Most of the top consumers of alcohol are also top producers, such as France and Germany, the report noted. Central Europe, the South Pacific, and parts of the Caribbean are the biggest consumers of alcohol.

Intoxication is prohibited in Muslim countries like Bangladesh, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and others.
